PostSubject: Re: David Fox's blog   Sun Sep 18, 2011 11:58 pm

So much has happened this year and its only mid-September! Since my last post, I have heard about a few new (to me) magazines and submitted to some. "Coffee-Ground Breakfast" and "Pancakes in Heaven" are fairly new publications, having been established only this past January (2011). I have poems in "Pancakes in Heaven" from the February through June issue and will have more starting in October. I have had poems in every issue of "Coffe-Ground Breakfast" except the current issue, but I intend to send more. A while ago, someone told me about "Poems of the World", but it was only due to my pen-pal and phonbe friend, John W. (Bill) Williams in Georgia's urgings did I finally "take the plunge" and submit some. (My poems "When I See You Smile" and "A Prayer for Peace and Freedom -- which I posted here -- have been published by them). I sent an anti-smoking poem to a magazine called "Opinion", which is supposed to be unbiased toward any opinion, but they rejected it anyway. Crying or Very sad (Perhaps it was too controversial? I don't know.) Saw the movie "Bridesmaids" in theatres and "The Hannah Montana Movie" on TV.
Speaking of TV, I was on the Public Access show, "Innersight." It's a program that helps people with disabilities speak their mind or promote their projects. I was on it talking about my book, "Critters, Creatures and Creations", a book of children's nature poems which my sister is illustrating with color pictures! When my sis gets her funds in order, we'll take it to staples, produce an 8x10 (hopefully) sized book, and will be able to come up with a selling price, for any of you who might be interested. (Hopefully it should be out by Christmas! santa )
Well, that's it (Isn't it enough?!) Hope to report back soon with more news.

Hey all...I will be the Featured Poet for the March issue of "Creative Inspirations" a print religious journal. I got final word from "WestWard Quarterly", my poem "Brilliant Star" will be in their Spring issue. Submitted to the website "Victorian Violet Press" for the first time, if I get accepted, you'll hear about it. Received my first issue of Poets & Writers, a result of a gift subscription from my cousin. I want to check out some of the websites in the "Classified Section", who knows what will come of that...

Some websites and print journals have accepted/posted my work since the last time I blogged here: "Indood", "Gem Ministry", "Whispers of Poetry" and a few new poems on "Inspiration Peak" from the web; 3 poems from "Atlantic Pacific Press"(received the issue), more from "SMILE" and "WestWard Quarterly" and my programs' newsletters, some from my workshop and the other called "The Brag", which in addition to printing my poetry reports news of my and the other group homes in my agency (United Cerebral Palsy). I read my poem "Santa's on a Diet" for an audience, our workshop supervisor was so impressed she wants me to read it again at our workshop pizza party. Am bowling often in my league, my high score this season so far is 147. Going to see the movie "Love and Other Drugs". I am not exactly sure what it is about, but am sure I will have a good time. Eating out after that, in celebration of my birthday. Getting lots of cards: some Hanukkah, some Christmas, some seasons greetings, and a few for my birthday (which is Thursday -- will be 39!) Will report more news as it comes...

Everyone,
I received notice last week a hacker came into my account and caused havoc telling all of my contacts I was in England and neeeded a great sum of money ($1,750 I believe). If you get this e-mail, erase it. I may be a poet, but I am not that hard up for cash. Now for some GOOD news...I have poems in Performance Poets Literary Anthology (Performance Poets is a non-profit organization that brings poetry readings to Long Island and Queens, New York.),Write On!! Poetry Magazette, based in Utah and WesWard Quarterlyof Illinois.

Just a short blog this time...saw the movies "When In Rome" and "Precopis" most recently. I finally received my issue of The Poetry Explosion Newsletter. I have had another poem in the journal SMILE and had some poems posted on the website Inspiration Peak and had a few accepted in the print journal, Atlantic Pacific Press.

Hey all...had a so-so week, but I'll keep on the positive stuff. I went to Barnes & Noble to look at the current issue of Poet's Market and buy the latest copy of "Poets & Writers" while I was there. 2 more of my (old) poems -- from way back -- "Gone Are the Days" and "The Nightmare that Wasn't Really There" were read at a ceremony in my absence by 2 of my housemates sponsered by my agency, UCP (United Cerebral Palsy). Jut heard back from "nibble" (a journal of short poetry) about a project they had e-mailed me about. I have to fill a short poem, in a blank journal and send it along to the next person. The seem to like narrative, beat-era style verse, so I am going to submit to them "The Beat Poet". Not sure if I ever submitted that to Lavendar Mist or not, but I will e-mail it to everyone who is interested and gives me their e-mail, after it is published. (I believe I only have Jim's and I am not sure of Doreen's...please e-mail me at davidirafox@yahoo.com or PM me so I can send you stuff. Anyway, I saw a administrative worker, Judy Rubino from Basrnes & Noble, and Phyllis Kogen, my volunteer co-ordinator at Gurwin while I work at the SmithHaven Mall near the bookstore (Lake Grove, Long Island, NY).
Been getting submissions limke crazy from old and new submitters for The Poet's Art (one from Hawaii), but I love it because that means it will keep rolling. (The only minor problem is I am backed up to June 2011!)) I take submissions from anywhere, just be prepared to pay the postage if you should decide to submit and live in another country (even Canada). My "snail mail address" (I prefer submissions this way) is: David Fox 171 Silverleaf Lane, Islandia, NY 11749. I will send you guidelines this way as well, or, if you can open attachments, in the body of an e-mail.
Your friend,
David Fox

Went to an art show on the 12th where some homeless shelters' artwork was being displayed including the one my sister works at. I ate at a new restaurant and passed by a farmer's market, all in Brooklyn. On the 25th I participated in an arts and crafts/photography/poetry event in Northport (Suffolk, Long Island) doing an open mic. I read two poems and everyone, readers and listeners alike seemed to enjoy themselves. I am going to my little cousin's birthday party next Sunday; she will be 4. More news when it comes...

PostSubject: More News   Tue Jul 14, 2009 3:21 am

I am happy to report more good news...I received notice that two of my poems will be published in the Summer issue of a family-friendly magazine called SMILE, which was a pleasant surprise because I was unsure of her health situation. I also received my latest issue of The Poetry Explosion Newsletter with my ad for my magazine.
In other news, I am going to see a movie this Sunday, probably "My Sister's Keeper" (about a girl who has cancer and her sister.) Next Saturday, I am going to a poetry and art exhibition in Northport. My little cousin, Alison, will be 4 on August 1st, so I am going to a birthday party that weekend. Finally, I am going to see "High School Musical 2", in a little-known playhouse. More news next blog...

PostSubject: David Fox's blog   Thu Jul 09, 2009 11:21 pm

Sorry to come here late, but ever since I won Poet of the Week here 3 weeks ago, my luck has really changed for the better and I just HAD to share...will try to come back here at least once a week. Some of you know I edit a magazine, The Poet's Art, and I received a $5 check from an editor friend of mine (in the U.S.), which was great since I don't charge U.S. contributors for subscriptions and do not offer samples, I am very fortunate to have an agency to cover those expenses, but a little extra "pocket change" is always welcome. My poetry has been accepted for "The Poetry Explosion Newsletter" (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) and published in "Creative Inspirations" (Bangor, Michigan), both print magazines and "out of the blue" received an e-mail to be published on "Laughter Loaf", a humor website on the 15th of this month after a long hiatus, only have resumed publication in May (the website is bi-monthly) I e-mailed the poem from "Creative Inspirations" to 2 e-mail newsletters and was accepted by both, one based in Canada and the other in India!
Non-poetry wise, my payroll this week is my second-highest I have received yet! 2 articles will appear in my workshop's newsletter, one on Dean Koontz and the other about the ADA (Americans with Disablities Act), something I feel passionately about living in a group home with 2 consumers in wheelchairs, I feel how can you not?
I love to receive PMs and/or Facebook messages, so if you wamt to ask me any further question on any of this, feel free!
