i will always be a pupil learning new things every day
because if i think i know it all myself gets in the way
when i take the reigns to run my life it never runs very smooth
especially when i think i know it all being too long in the tooth

god is the one i rely upon with trust in his wisdom and power
handing my thoughts to him in the morn the ones that are sour
please my lord i say to him take all of me the good and the bad
may i do your will always so that i do not make anyone sad

please make my words sweet today for later i may have to eat them
let me put someone before me to be heeled touching your hem
thank you my god for all that you give and loving me just as i am
in sixty six years since you made me i now am your biggest fan

the road has not been flat but every bump has been worth while
even complaining they are hard you always made me smile
you even died to set me free and forgave me all my mistakes
to get back home with you in death i'll do what ever it takes
