| Mother-in-Law
Akimbo she'd stand while ruling with a firm hand. Her life had been tough for she had had it rough So proud and strong yet she had a sharp tongue. She had a large family who all lved very happily. All knew right from wrong and would not hurt any-one. Yes, they were poor but clean without a washing machine. A brilliant good cook but never used a book. Her grandchildren visited often and she would always listen, when they told her tales of woe Then her love she would bestow.
But she was not all sweetness and light As she had been know to fight. She would put the fear of God into any poor sod who got in her way when she had a bad day. Yet we had laughter and tears through-out the years It was never the same which was such a shame After Sarah died Yes we all tried. but she was at the helm of her own little realm Who kept us all together In all kinds of weather

| Sounds better than my Mother-in-Law Doreen I did consider living in sin so as I wouldn't have a mother in law, but we all have to make sacrifices. Steve lamb to the slaughter Riggs _________________ Steve www.noaddress.co.uk

| A good poem, Doreen You expressed so well those qualities that made people in earlier times such incredible survivors. They were so tough and loving at the same time. Your poem just proves that they don't make them like they used to. Best, Carol |
