YOUR PENS
Their points remind the skies of all the lights
with which some universal forms of glow
persuade intelligence to reach a snow
whose brilliance edifies the very heights.
Each penly body matches many rights
whereby assorted sets of lives may show
sufficient strength to take an undertow
and give it the sufficiencies of fights.
An augurer of freedoms is the sound
of inky battles with a paper's force
or with a semblance of quite quiet ground.
One roundabout restriction is, of course,
the way some human animal would pound
the bases of the rider and its horse.

strike bowlers as wraithful nonsparings.
I mean to imply
that words slap a thigh
that barely gives back better bearings.

I liked the way you linked the writing from pens to the world outside as we try to capture what we see in words- oh so inadequately often. This is a very clever sonnet - your brilliance dazzles, Bruce! Jo x
