I still remember the day
when that guy took my baby away.
We were always so close
but I guess and suppose
there was nothing for me left to say.

She was prepared to do anything.
He gave her sweet words and a ring.
She gave him her body and mind
but in the end he treated her rather unkind
even though she looked at him as her king.

She thought she was the only girl in his life
and prepared to soon become his wife
but he had an affair
when she wasn't there.
That caused a lot of trouble and strife.

Now she feels so much heartache and grief.
He stole her innocence like a common thief
but in times of despair
I'll always be there
which to her is such a relief.

She will never take him back anymore.
He can talk all he want but she's closed the door.
I'll be her best friend
and her wounds will soon mend.
Then things will be just like before.

Dear **Berry**: In questions of love
you seem like some very true dove.
As facts keep on changing
and (yes) re-arranging,
mere nudging predicts harshest shove.

Berry,
You have such compassion in this and so many of your poems. Keep this quality it is rare among us men -- even for some of us poets.

It's too bad that so many relationships that start off with such love and hope end up in disappointment.

It certainly would be wonderful for someone to have your friendship, compassion and understanding during this trying time.
