Celebrity

Oh I want to be a celebrity
and have my five minutes of fame.
I don't care if it's a disaster
I want it just the same.

I've seen all the others before me
and I want to get there somehow.
They don't seem to have that much talent
no more than I have now.

Oh I want to be a celebrity
and get my name into the news.
I'd have to do something outrageous
or have some awful views.

I'd get interviewed - maybe by Parkinson
who'd make quite a fool out of me.
But at least I'd get noticed by people
and – wow – I'd be on the TV.

Oh I want to be a celebrity
and make pots of money as well.
And when I see those who are up there
I'm sure I could manage to tell.

Some terrible, terrible stories
of folks that I know, to get by.
Until I could show what I'm made of
by flashing my eyes and a thigh.

Oh I want to be a celebrity
it really consumes my whole day.
I feel if I only try harder
success will then come my way.

But nobody seems to notice
the talent I've got to display.
So I'll just need to stop all this nonsense
and in my own world have to stay.

I think celebrity worship is very bad because it creates a class of people who believe they are above the law and better than other people. They are really just able to hide so many of the bad things they do including crimes and murders by covering things up and paying people off.

Not to mention that so many of them set such bad behavioural examples and are terrible role models.

The media is so obsessed with everything that celebrities and rich people do, but it completely undermines the needs and value of the majority of the population.

In other words, I think that the media brainwashes regular people into not being critical of the rich and not making them accountable for their actions. Therefore, the needs of regular people don't count because they are not considered to be as important as the rich are.

In the old days there were the kings, queens and the nobility that ruled and oppressed people, but I think that now we have celebrities, politicians and bankers that are doing the same thing.

I always thought that the French got it right when they built those guillotines and took care of the problem!

Ha ha!
