Experts

I wish I could be an expert
and tell all the people my views.
I know I'm not very clever,
but it'd be a wonderful ruse.

I've listened to them for most of my life
they stand out in a crowd.
On subjects they know nothing about
but still they are quite loud.

And often others who're more timid
will stand and listen in awe.
Although they may have more pertinent views,
they're loathe to interrupt 'jaws'.

If I can see this so clearly
and I'm sure that others do too,
I wish someone just had the courage
to tell them that they're talking 'pooh'.

I wish I could be an expert
But then I'd probably find
at least half a dozen others
who'll show me my errors of mind.

So I guess I'll just stand in the corner
and listen while others hold forth.
And dream of the day when they shut up,
and I can say something of worth.

Dear **Ian**: You seem to have stated
a fact that should not be debated.
The 'experts' out there
have little to share
that mightn't be quite un-related?

A good poem, Ian Very Happy

It's the old saying that 'the squeaky wheel gets the oil.'

Those who speak the loudest don't always have the most to say.

But they get a lot of attention and praise because they are the noisiest and usually because they have money to back them up.

And then lots of other people are willing to stay silent about their own views and not contradict the popular viewpoint.

That defines the 'mob mentality' and unfortunately a lot of terrible things have happened especially when a dictator has control over too many people like Hitler did.

Best,
Carol
