Van Gogh’s Eyes

Some nights
you can feel Van Gogh’s eyes
stare out across the night stars
of harbour lights,
shimmering
in the ghostly reflections
of the waves,
or in the twisting anguish
of sunflower stems
that can only feel
patches of the sun
peel away their passions

On Van Gogh’s bedroom walls
dreams hung on every hook,
and wove themselves
into the fabric of his life

The living shadows became enmeshed
in his mosaic of brushstrokes,
capturing the viewer’s eye
as it wanders among the ghosts
in his paintings~
swirling endless
starry nights...

Dear **Carol**: Eying now much cold hard cash,
Van Gogh consults me for my diaper rash.
His wisdom is that I should learn to daub --
and, so, I might. I ALWAYS WAS A SLOB.

Dear **Bruce**:
I don't think Van Gogh had much hard cash,
I don't know about his diaper rash,
Maybe you could learn how to daub
like Van Gogh who always did a good job Very Happy

Carol,
Van Gogh was a brilliant artist, (as you probably already know) you depicted his inspirations well.
Your friend,
David Fox

I really liked this, there's a touch of the surreal in your descriptions that works so well. Gilly

Thank you for your kind responses, David, Scott and Gilly Very Happy

Gilly, I think that Van Gogh's paintings are otherworldly.

The surreal descriptions in my poems are very intentional! I'm glad that you think that they work!

I copied this poem and pasted it into the December Challenge because I think that it fit into Val's criteria!

Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Best wishes,
Carol
