Christmas is just an illusion.
We all enjoy a few days of peace,
hoping that all the bloodshed will cease
in a world that is full of confusion.

We eat and drink the time away
and hide in a cosy cocoon
but we know that all too soon
there will be a high price to pay.

A new year of misery, trouble and strife.
A year with a lot of pain
and things that will drive us insane.
It's all just creating the story of life.

So folks, my advice is: Be cheerful and jolly!
Be loving towards your foe
and do kiss under the mistletoe.
Fill your home with candles and holly!

Don't allow any kind of intrusion
in your peaceful world of good cheer.
After all, it's only here once a year
but remember, it's just an illusion.

I wish everyone a Happy Christmas for at least two days, not forgetting Christmas Eve ofcourse. The spirit of Christmas should last the whole year through. It would show that we finally learned something and boy, what a present it would make for mankind!

I think it is a time to be thankful for family and friends, yet most of all for our children or grandchildren. A time to show some care and affection.
Of course although this makes us happier, and more susceptible to kindness, we soon forget.

I was relieved when I read your explanation. Yes, we should practice what we do on Chiristmas all year round,but unless you never have a bad day or just happen to have the patience of a saint, it is almost impossible. Notice I said ALMOST. There are, of course, exceptions to every rule. Merry Christmas!

Yes, it may be all an illusion, but at least it's a fun one!

If you look into the eyes of children at Christmastime and see how happy they are, then you will realize what a worthwhile illusion it is!

I used to love Christmas myself when I was a child!

You are right Berry.. it seems like some people gather in all the food and drink, then shut the curtains against the world.. and if the news does happen to come on with bad things happening.. why worry if as long as the party people are having fun...
sad to say there will be far more people in the world who won't be partying, either becase of poverty, famine, or war....

Sometimes I think if ANYTHING proves that Christmas isn't a mere illusion, it would be the famous Christmas Eve truce during World War One.......(Two is next, Three, Four, and Five to follow, and WHOOPS I forgot to be optimistic.......) Sorry, but the story of the famous truce just kind of gets to me, somehow, lol.
