Old men dream dreams of yesteryear
And make plans for the morrow
They look back to happy times
And wipe out all the sorrow

They don’t intend to give life up
Or leave it to the young
For there are many things to do
And good songs to be sung

So a warning to all young folks
Who too often write them off
Don’t underestimate their deeds
Or at their efforts scoff

Remember these old codgers
Were once as young as you
And have learned from their experience
As one day they hope will you

The knowledge that through life they’ve gained
They gladly will pass on
And they pray that it will serve you
Long after they have gone

They hope that you will use it well
And see them as elder brothers
So that when the time is right
You will pass on your skills to others
