| Leaving
This place,
This house,
Became our home.
Our place of peace,
Our house of family,
Where we settled
And made this space
Our own.
Now all disarray,
Upset,
Dismay
As we must leave
This place.
This house
Still holds our presence,
Our hopes.
Our dreams
Are written in every room,
But all too soon,
This place,
This house,
Will be alien and cold
And we will be gone from here.
I cry real tears
For what might have been,
Opportunities no longer here,
But where
Will new ones be? |

| Lovely poem Gilly I have one I wrote previously called New Life New Life
As another day smiles on it's way.
new life begins again.
Today, I met a little girl,
Whose life had just begun.
she was born, one April day
Just before the day was done.
She is so sweet and lovely
and she is such a treasure.
This little child can lead the way,
And will give me so much pleasure.
My great grandaughter
We are 65 years apart,
but you will always have
A special place in my heart.
My sweet little baby,
Be cheerful and true
For you have all your life
In front of you.

| I know we only had two entries & both are excellent, but as I have to chose a winner, I chose Gilly, mainly because I had to leave a house I'd loved too.

| Thank you for choosing my poem.
It was several years ago when I moved house, and even now when I read the poem, the memories come back, and what a lot of new memories have been made since too.
