The challenge for May is....New Life Poems about any new life, baby animals, human baby, nesting birds.
Have fun writing them, Folks, or use an old suitable one, if like me you are busy.

Well they are still here Kevin, and I'm really sorry Val's challenge (which was/is very good) has had no entries. I for one have been on holiday, and quite busy... and I hope that is the reason for lack of input.
To be honest it is very quiet, but members only get out what they put into a site.
Listlessness can lead to a downward spiral. I think a poetry site has to have a momentum of members, once it gets below a certain level then it can become frustrating as the remaining members crave at least a response or reply to their work.

Some members have drifted off into the sunset, and others have never posted. I can understand the change of management may have caused some to look elsewhere.
When Karen asked for someone to take on the day to day running of the site no one was prepared to commit, and so to ensure it continues as long as it can I was happy to take it on.

Most of you know I am not a God fearing man, but I am quite happy to embrace those that believe. I hope I have not put anyone off (though I probably have lol).

When time permits I do try and write, and I hope everyone here feels they can do the same. There is no reason why this site cannot muddle along as a democracy with myself just doing management things.
We have only had two members attempt to join in the last year, one which was spam, and the other due to technical problems (now resolved) did not receive a timely response. (Tom please try again).

I think Bruce, Doreen, Eunice, Gilly, and Val try their best, and so its up to the rest of you to chip in. This site is for its members.

Surprised

I hope nobody took my comment the wrong way. I simply MISS the days when Poetic was livelier. I know I personally have had writers' block for an eternity and a half, and I get the feeling several other members have also been struggling with this evil block. There are also plenty of circumstances that prevent people from either writing or commenting (I believe the primary one is called "life"........) I know when Karen couldn't continue Poetic and things looked dire, I was very happy when Steve made the commitment to keep things running. I don't think I ever thanked you enough, Steve. I'm hoping that this is just a temporary slow-down in posts and comments. I can't promise to post anything worth reading, but I can ALMOST promise to reply more often than I've been doing recently, because I do feel bad about not replying as much as I should.......

We all seem to have busy lives. Makes a change for me as my social life was nil a while ago. Laughing
I know I don't post anywhere nearly as much on any of the forums I'm on now as I used to.

I have been unable to write poems for a long time, I can't seem to get the muse going & with everything else going on here, I really haven't the time nor the inclination to try. They just used to flow, I never struggled at all.
I was reading back through my old poems the other day & thought, strange it isn't happening now. Not as if there aren't subjects I could use.
But never mind. Maybe one day the muse will return. I shall continue here to tweat, but for now I have to go help OH, he is still fitting our new bathroom.

Good comments from all. I still get on as and when I can and usually manage to keep the challenge going month to month, but as this time there wasn't even one entry, I just let it go. What else was there to do.

I know it was with great reluctance that Karen couldn't be as involved in the site as she used to be, but Steve took it on so there would be a place for people to share their poetry and communicate with each other, blogs, games, chat (yes there is chat lol) and Steve has been doing a good job of keeping the site going with plenty of input.

I don't get on as much as I used to do, but just get on when I can.

I will set a June challenge and see if anything comes up? I think it's good fun and good to have a topic to think about and see what way it can be tackled.

PostSubject: Re: May Challenge   Wed Jun 29, 2011 8:05 am

I never entered the May challenge because I had been away for 3 weeks end of April into May.

I was really dissaponinted and put off when I posted 2 picture challenges over December/January and not one person entered.

I still do come on here and post poems occasionally. the last poem I posted got 2 comments yet I know for a fact more than 2 people have been on here.

Anyway I will keep posting but I just sometimes feel we are lossing the battle to keep it going.
