I live in Great Britian England and have never celebrated St patricks day. Of course the Irish do and lots of guiness is drunk Me I prefer lager. Have a good one if you are celebrating.

Here in Kansas City we make a BIG deal out of St. Patrick's Day. We have the fourth biggest parade in the country behind New York, Chicago, and Boston. The drinking is maybe even more than on New Year's Eve (both during and after the parade, although the last few years the cops have cracked down on drinking during the parade. Not that I myself EVER did that........) It's really more or less our Mardi Gras, in fact. I'll be ducking out of work for the parade, with several friends who also lost their work ethics in their other pants, so the parade is set. Not sure what I'll be doing that night, though: too many possibilities to narrow them down just yet.

Does anybody do anything for this holiday? I try to wear green if I remember. Also, I remember when I was living in my first group home (in Nassau County, Long Island), there were two staff members -- a brother and sister who were Irish so, the three agency-related group homes (Mercy Hospital was the agency) would get together and we would have our own little party with corned beef, Irish soda bread and dessert -- usually cupcakes or a cake with green frosting on them. Just figured I'd share...
