PostSubject: February Challenge.....   Sun Feb 06, 2011 9:45 pm

Well this year isn't a leap year,
but if it was a secret leap year, that only you knew about,
what would you do with those 24 hours to yourself?

Shocked

If I have time to spare
I would spend it alone
Lock all the doors and windows
and even turn off the phone

I would read a book
or watch T.V
I 'd had no-one to talk too
aas there would only be me

yet I,m a friendly person
and really like folk around
But just for 24 hours
Else I'd have a break down.

24 Hours

24 hours from Tulsa,
That's how the lyrics scan,
If I had 24 to myself,
I wouldn't need a plan.
I'd have snacks for food all the day,
And read a good book study all the way.
Surf the net, queen catch up on TV,
Play the games I like, that are free. jocolor

But wait! What am I saying here,
These are things I do every day of the year! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Thanks, Doreen, I like yours too.
Lovely to just be you on your own all day. With a retired OH who is here all the time, it does get a bit wearing for me, but I do my own thing, most of the time. Laughing

Twentyfour hours all my own
Twentyfour hours to be alone
Where's my brush and paint tubes too
There's just one thing I want to do
Paint all day, no interruption
Paint it right with no corruption.
No meals to cook amd clean up after,
For twentyfour hours I'm not a grafter.
No-one wanting cups of tea
The only one is me, me, me!
Chocolate to inspire my brain
So I can paint again, again.
Day to myself, oh what a dream!
But things are not always as they seem.
Sadly it's not really real
There is no day that I can steal
But it's a lovely reverie
Twenty four hours just for me.

I like that, Eunice. A different take on my poem. I am sorry you can't have that day.

24 Hours

An alternative reality
for no-one else, only me
24 hours, a whole extra day
to selfishly while the hours away
no dogs to walk as they peacefully sleep
washing and cleaning – that will keep
I have books to read, sitting in the sun
uninterrupted by anyone
coffee to drink and treats to eat
such a day would be pretty neat
but ~ I know that I would miss my man
so I hope he’ll join me, if he can ....

PostSubject: Poetry Contest Deadline   Sat Feb 26, 2011 8:00 am

Poetry Contest Deadline

Twenty four hours is that all I've got
to write a poem, well that's not a lot,
to find all the words I want to say
about what I'd fit into the perfect day.

There should be longer, you know it's true,
but who set the rules? I know, it's you,
there should be no limit of just a day
but I'll give it a try anyway.

Twenty four hours, time's ticking away,
it isn't long, it's only a day,
hands on the clock going so fast,
look already half a day's passed.

There should be longer, you know it's true
but you set the rules as you set out to,
all that's left is a few little hours,
and I'm trying to find my poetry powers.

Couldn't I have just a little more time
in order to finish my special rhyme?
Twenty four hours is that all I've got,
couldn't I have more? I guess not?

Gilly J

... tongue-in-cheek... and just for fun Laughing

Well crikey, what the heck happened to February?
I know its only 28 days but we even threw an extra one in.

Anyway apologies for not finding time to write my own entry, but all considered I know just how Gilly feels, so I think it is about time she chose the subject for March.
Thankyou all ladies for your great contributions.

All yours Gilly, (unless we get to about the 10th and you haven't noticed Very Happy )
