Thanks Val, and here's abit of silliness to start the ball rolling...

TOYBOY

I said I'd like a toyboy
but when it came he was no good,
his name was Pinnochio
and he was made of wood!

I Want THIS Toy for Christmas, Santa!

I think I'll ask
For a flask
(A very small toy for a very big boy)
While I egg my nog
In miles of bog
I'm thinking Santa is likely to
Bound chimneys nightly to
Hang around
With a bound
DOWN my chimney, that jolly old elf
But enough, I'll cheer up MYSELF!

Ooh, nearly missed the monthly challenge which I like to support. This is about a time when parents had the sense to give to their children presents which used no electricity...

Long Ago Christmas

Crepe paper chains and tinsel in trees.
Soft coloured lights and folks at their ease.

Icy winds blow and snow drifts do creep
But logs on the fire, with cats curled asleep.

Christmas morn comes and bright eyes grow wide.
Gifts are unwrapped to see what's inside:

Clockwork delights, dolls' house, six gun.
Rocking horse glistens, face full of fun.

Chemistry sets, tops that make hum,
Top of the pile a bright soldier's drum.

Innocent eyes, full of delight,
Will feast on this harvest into the night.

Can they be lured to give up the play?
Will it be playing with presents all day?

Mum knows the answer as out loud she shouts:
Roast chicken beckons... and crackers...

... and sprouts...

I really liked Rowan's poem although I do think there's a difference between electricity and electronics. Some of my favorite toys had electricity, but NONE had electronics (let alone the Internet.....)

Sorry for my delay. Truth is I forgot all about it.
The one I liked best is....Rowan's. cheers It was the rocking horse that did it for me & I always wanted one, but never got one. Sad I don't mind sprouts. Laughing

Congratulations...

Over to you Rowan for the next Monthly Challenge.
