I love the Christmas season- the build up with visits to friends and family, the Church services, the whole hullabalo. It is a brilliant itme to keep in touch and look up those poelpe you haven't spoken to for ages because you have been too busy! a time to take stock really - but it is hectic!

I am missing those days when Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day were such family events bustling with parties and get togethers. However, we are seeing friends for Christmas Eve supper which will be lovely and we saw my son and daughter in law last week, so that was lovely.

Christmas is fast approaching, and people are all busy with preparations.
Some of our members (lucky things) are winging their way to warmer places, to be with family etc. For those of us remaining at home I guess we will be snuggling by the fire with chocolate things. Cats and dogs (for those who have them) curled up by our toes.

If you have any poetic inspiration then feel free, I'm sure some will find the time to pop in over the forthcoming holiday.
I would like to wish you all a restful holiday, and of course good health and best wishes for the New Year. Thankyou all for continuing to contribute to our poetic haven, and most of all thankyou to all those who help keep the board flowing.

Happy Christmas one and all santa rendeer

Christmas is for me always a time to ponder on all the things that have happened over the year that has almost ended. It is the time that people show more warmth and friendliness towards eachother. Everyone seems to be looking forward to Christmas and everyone seems to be in a good mood which is nice. When you look at all the different kind of Christmas decoration and all the different kind of lights it really cheers you up. I find it a real shame that it's over so quicky. Basically Christmas should last all the year through but then it wouldn't be special anymore ofcourse. Anyway, I want to wish everyone a Very Happy Christmas.

I celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah, my Mom is a converted Jew so my aunt (my mother's sister) and our family celebrate Christmas together and the immediate family celebrates Hanukkah alone. Hanukkah came early this year, with lots of good gifts. My cousins and I are not exchanging Christmas gifts this year; the idea came from my cousin Maryann and Michael. But like Gilly said, Christmas is really about Jesus' birth and Joseph and Mary's "immaculate conception" (I have never read the New Testament, so am still trying to figure that immaculate conception thing out). But Happy Holidays whatever you celebrate, even if it's nothing (I do believe we have a couple of athiests on this site...)
Your friend,
David Fox

Actually, I LOVE Wallace and Gromit! In fact, just Thanksgiving Day, I watched the video "Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-rabbit" with my niece and her family and a couple of other relatives. In also fact, that video was a Christmas present to me last year. As for buying Christmas stamps, I never send out Christmas cards in the first place (except for email cards), so it's not really relevant for me, personally.

I need stamps soon, Gilly, but I'll not specifically ask for the religious ones, I'm not religious, but I think the W&G ones are fun. Smile

We are going to have, dare I say it, a very boring Christmas this year, with no Daughter & her Partner. They are off to Australia next Tuesday for 6 weeks.
So, it will be OH, Son, part of the time, though no doubt he will go to friends if the weather's OK & me.
I am not a fan of Christmas anyway. It is far to commercial now & I don't like the cold weather.
I do like shopping so I have bought a few presents for friends & immediate Family.
I will decorate the front porch & put up the Christmas cards, if we get any that is, Laughing but that is all.
It is also soon to be a year since my Mother died, so not a good time anyway.

A very Happy Christmas to all on Poetic Skies.: santa rendeer santa rendeer

Has anyone bought any Christmas stamps yet?
Not the Wallace and Gromit ones.. but and I will have to whisper this.. the Jesus and Mary ones?
Anyway if you go into the post offices round here, you have to ask for them specially as they are kept under the counter in a plain brown envelope in case they offend anyone!
and make sure you whisper as you ask...

by the way.. they are the Madonna and Child ones if anyone wants to ask at their post office.
