Well how could I resist?

Any poem about weddings, or perhaps how life goes afterwards.
Guys wear their best suit over again, but do you ladies wear the same hat twice? Have you been happily married for donkeys years?
There's a couple of ideas, but really anything is fine. king queen

PostSubject: The tale of Two Weddings   Sun Oct 03, 2010 7:12 pm

A tale of two weddings

(In Turkey)

I saw two weddings on holiday
both the brides wore white.
One wedding had affluence
at the second, there was a fight.
Wedding one had dancers and singers
and so many guests.
Nearly all wore modern clothes
and all wanted to impress.
I saw a young boy in a suit,
with his flashing trainers too,
some old ladies wore traditional dress
but that was only a few.

The second wedding was so diffferent
right from the start..
Many women wore headscarfs
and had travelled by cart.
No music played, they just sat around
When out of the blue, a commotion occured.
and I saw a young man in white
very aggitated and scared.
His mother rushed over
with her handbag in hand,
shouting so many words
which of course I could not understand.

Still children were playing, BUT
a man dressed in black (yes that is right)
He'd been talking to many people
but he started the fight.
Guests grabbed hold and took him away.
So mother and son
then decided to stay.
I didn't know the reason
and I don't really care.
I hope the bride was not upset
because it wasn't really fair.

The first wedding guests danced and they sang.
every-one had a good time.
The food and drink flowed all night
while the guests all got on fine.
A seven tier wedding cake appeared
which was shared among the guests.
Even us who looked on got a piece
and no one got distressed.
Wedding two, they had no food.
I think they were watching their pennies.
No wedding cake was even seen.
and drink there was not any..

Both brides and grooms looked happy
, so I wish them all the best.
I do hope their marriages are fruitful
and that they will be blessed.
Although I saw two different weddings
I hope they both share love.
May God smile on both of them
by sending his love from above.

Just have to say, this is absolutely true. The hotel we stayed at performed wedding ceremonies.

It was very educational to watch them as well.

it didn't matter about show, Doreen, as you say, as long as the bride and groom were happy, that's all that matters
a good descriptive poem

First Dance

Will you have a first dance?
a question from the blue
seems strange for me and you
we’ve been dancing for so long
and not to just one song
a varied repertoire
in the house and in the car
we’ve done soul, we’ve done the blues
slipped into each other’s shoes
and our commitment has been made
well before the first dance can be played

3pm, and the bride was there
Her timing you could not falter
White dress hired from Mothercare
Dad’s shotgun upon the altar

The groom, was running late
His best man, all in a panic
Both resigned to their fate
And things were getting manic

So hung over from the night before
He can’t leave her in the lurch
No escape routes to explore
As they both rush to the church

The wedding car, a simple white ford
Drives around the block again
Insalubriously all they can afford
Yet with appearances to maintain

Finally arrived, he is standing there
Enter the bride enormously wide
A faltering start to a lifetime of care
Like pirate ships coming alongside

Does any man, know of just cause
You can hear a pin drop on the floor
And after what seems like a lifelong pause
They are married for evermore

Very Happy

Already slacking on washing up
When my cleanliness was pedantic
I bought you flowers, washed the odd cup
In an effort to be romantic

It was only a formality
A bachelor life I shall not miss
Do dirty plates fade to banality?
They do
With just one kiss

Time Tells on the Wedding Bells

It's only when a distant memory is the reception
That you know... whether love's real or self-deception.

It's only when long gone is the champagne
That you know... if it's real hurt or just sham pain.

It's only when you struggle to recall the speeches
That you know... how far your good luck reaches.

It's only when looks have faded from stunning
That you know... if what's left will send you running.

It's only when the wind whisks the last confetti
That you know... if 'for poorer' will outdo 'Paul Getty'.

It's only when time slips the name of the church
That you know... if you're ending up in the lurch.

It's only when far behind you are left the vows
That you can know...

... For sure...

... Love's end...

... Will come home like the cows...

The Wedding Portrait

The photographer
Surveys the wedding party
As they wander on the grass.
Like a shepherd he has
To round them up
And get them back into their cosy flock.
Then quickly dash to
Take the snaps,
Capture the moment,
Immortalise
The happy couple
Grinning so hard their jaws ache,
From playing at being the bride and groom
For the day.
The wedding guests in their finery,
Nodding glances,
Brushing straight skirts and jackets,
Smiling all around.
Then the bridesmaid
In her pretty dress
With flowing ribbons,
Pirouettes and twirls,
And somersaults.
Then everybody laughs
And become themselves once more.
