I happened to be re-reading "The Lottery" the other day, and it got me thinking about short stories. (I was in the play of "The Lottery" in college, so I've always had a soft spot for it. I personally wanted to throw real stones, for the verisimilitude, but I was over-ruled.......) My personal favorite has always been Mark Twain's "The Man Who Corrupted Hadleyburg." And I can always re-read Poe, although "The Fall of the House of Usher" is extremely over-rated, in my humble opinion. And Agatha Christie's short mysteries or Larry Niven's "Draco Tavern" series of short shorts? I've read and re-read those over and over. I'd love to hear other people's favorite short stories.
