| These sad films do seem to touch some deep emotions within us because I guess they distil the essence and strip away all the added complexities of real life.

| I saw Love Story years ago, Berry, it did make me cry. I don't think many of us actually find our true soul mates, I think most of us settle for second best. Kramer v Kramer was more emotional for me. Heck! I can cry at any film, if it's sad, even Toy Story3 & that is a blooming cartoon. Children & animals do it every time. The Sixth Sense, had an effect on me, as did Nottinghill & Love Actally, now that was a lovely film about love stories, different types. I also like Hugh Grant. And Brokeback Mountain, another thought provoking film.. _________________ Regards Val |

| I remember when Love Story came out it made such an impression on me! I saw the movie four times! No I'm not joking. The first time was to enjoy the movie. The second time was to get all the dialogues. The third time was for the music. The fourth time was to get a complete picture, music, dialogues, everything. Than I wrote it out word by word and noted the music at every important part. It was like a script. The director couldn't have done a better job. I guessed I was a bit obsessed at the time but I thought: 'This is what love is all about!' I kept looking for a girl like Ali MacGraw but I stood a fat chance. I wasn't an attorney, I wasn't a hockey champion. Still she was so beautiful! I saw a picture of her the other day. She is 70 years old! She lost all of her looks ofcourse. She is just another old lady. Now I suddenly got a chance to see that movie again and I tell you, I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time. When she was taken to the hospital on that field covered with snow I cried again just as I did than. I was all broken up about it and it seemed time had stood still. It was than that I wished I could go back to the 70's when love was real, when romance was real. At least it seemed to be. Oh don't tell me, I know I'm only fooling myself but isn't it lovely to dream away! No director nowadays produces lovestories anymore. It doesn't sell. It's violence and drugs and special effects. Still I enjoyed to watch this movie again. I just wanted to share this with you. I hope some of you feel the same. |
