9/11. Nine years ago

I often sit and wonder why
so many people had to die,
on that bright September day
which only seems like yesterday.
Three thousand died, in the blink of an eye
as the World Trade Center
was blown from the sky.
Another plane hit the Pentagon
while on Flight 94, those people were strong.
all those people were heroes that day
as most went into work in the normal way.
but this day was different from any before.
For thousands of people
there would be no more.
strangers were helping one another
as if it were their own sister or brother.
People are angry, are sad and still cry,
and of course, ask the question, WHY?
It was like a stormy day that never ends,
where families were broken
and hundreds lost friends.
Today, let us only think of them,
the victims, survivors and brave firemen,
as well as the Police and the innocent dead.
This day is about them, not what you have read.
This all happened nine years ago
but war still goes on,
So have your moment of silence
and remember everyone.

I dedicate this to everyone who's life changed on September 11th. 2001

Nicely put Doreen.

A sensless act which has only enhanced the suffering of all, and acheived nothing. Such a waste of life, and all in the name of some false God as usual.

It is so fresh in the memory that it is difficult to realise it was 9 years ago

a timely and sensitive reminder, Doreen

It was an event that can never be forgotten. I remember seeing it come on the television, it was unbelievable as the nightmare unfolded.
A well thought out poem Doreen.

That was the day that my Chris turned 60. We thought at first that it was a drama. It took a few minutes to realise that what we were seeing on T.V. was really happening.

It seems hard to think it is 9 years ago. It seems like yesterday. I think the whole world changed that day.
