| All the faces you look into as you make your way back home Tell so many different stories From so many different books, Some hold dreams of summer glories, others tales of loneliness Some reach out into tomorrow Just to see how bright it looks, And some hold vague anticipations of reflected kindred souls For shadows of their nervousness Touch fingers in the rain, And some still say good evening from the windows of their eyes The kind that pass each other smiling And hope that they’ll meet again.
All those whispers that you hear between the heartbeats of each night Ask so many different questions In so many different ways, Some ask why the stars speak silence, others why the moonlight glows With the soft silvered acceptance Of tomorrow’s waiting days, And some ask only of the faces that passed by the night before Amazing grace wrapped evening lace Clad in their mist made shawls, What if God was one of them, just trying to make his way home And the Prayer our faces touched in Ever quietly it calls…

| This was beautiful and very thought-provoking. I sometimes joke "God is one of us or He couldn't put UP with us!" but that's just my silly side. I think in many ways we want to "go home" wherever home is. Could be heaven, could be childhood, could be a lover. And I think that God probably is lonely for His own home, in some ways. And the parts of the poem: noticing the stars or the moon while wandering home--or using them for guides--or using our own inner longings for a compass........And the atmosphere of the poem. Yes, I'm probably rambling by now. But your poem was very thought-provoking (whereas I myself am MERELY provoking.....) All very etherial, all very impressive. |

| Nicely done, Keith ...people watching is interesting, and they all had that one thing in common, they were going home, and as Kevin said, we all want to do that in one way or another

| Keith, As I read this poem, it reminded me of the Joan Osborne song of the same title. She even says in her song "just trying to make his way home" like you do in your poem. If you haven't heard the song already, I think you should take a listen, if you can find it, it's a rather old song. Your friend, David Fox |

| Created in his image Oh my God! it could be me But if I were to think so Surely blasphemy
Scribes and Pharisees Crucified me on a stake And now that I am home Can you see your big mistake?
Still they cannot see it Even though it is shown I was never there at all Mankind is on its own
A nice thought Keith, and far better than my reply. Steve devil in disguise Riggs _________________ Steve www.noaddress.co.uk

| Somewhere inbetween the horrible guilt that was installed in me when I attended Catholic School, and the present day, I started to think of God as a loving parent. He loves us inspite of our sins. I first realized this when I had children myself. There isn't anything that one of them could ever do that would make me turn my back on them. I want them to do good, but when they don't, I honestly don't love them any less. Knowing the love I feel about my own children, I can only imagine the love our creator feels and wants for us. |
