PostSubject: Sea Truths   Wed Jul 28, 2010 9:25 pm

I’m sending you a song to your city streets
Where the traffic drones long all day
And the pace is fast and you know where it’s at
And you swagger for you’re worth that high pay

But come with me to the sea and the shore
Where the waves gleam bright in the dawn
And the cliffs yawn wide and reveal the past
And show dinosaurs before you were born

Where the flowers bloom bright and the salt wind blows
And the boats bob about in the sea
And the sound of the water fills your mind
And you feel at one finally

Where nature takes charge and the moments are long
Where eternity seems out there somewhere
Where the cut and the thrust which you undergo
Means nothing and your cares are elsewhere

Where you find yourself part of the natural world
While the false one that man has made law
Floats like flotsam above the depths of your mind
With the green swelling sea and the shore.

Jo,
This is beautiful. Very lyrical. I liked it a lot.
Your friend,
David Fox

Moments lost in one's self.
Discovering
Recovering

Then the blinking tide comes in again

Brilliantly well said, Jo
some City men could use a little humility, and a realisation that man is not greater than the world he inhabits

Thank you so much for your encouragement all of you, and humour, Steve.

I too think the sea is magical, Karen. I am glad you likedthe flow of the poem Karen and David.

I guess I was thinking of all that rushing around in the city where work seems so full of status and people can feeel very important, and then they just forget to look around them and to de-stress a little.
