| Well this is my first picture challenge, it feels a little strange as I am so used to Karen hunting down interesting pictures for us all to write about.
So here goes.
I know how you all like animals so you have a choice of two to ease myself gently into the spirit of things. Any form or angle you like, and if your feeling brave tackle both pictures.

| Famous Seven
I went for my scan and what did they see
just a pair of twins staring back at me.
First time mother, first time nerves
going to give them all they deserve.
Another week, I’m the size of a whale
another scan, what does that entail?
More eyes and paws, more curly tails
looking in Mother Care on the sale rails.
Due date arrives, panic takes over
went into labour without my lover.
One baby appeared, then two, three, four
I had septuplets, ‘Hello’ knocking at my door.
They told my story, I made a mint
now I need my sleep, so go take a hint. |

| Stand-off on the garden fence
Outcome keeps us in suspense
Puss thinks “It really is just a bird,
To back off now would be absurd.
I’m getting bored with tins of meat,
To catch this for food ..what a feat!”
Eagle deigns to sit and wonder
How it would be to tear puss asunder
Seven hungry little beaks she has to feed
One this size would be all she’d need
Cruel talons versus sharpened claws
Antagonists take time and pause
Cat balefully stares into Eagle eyes
As both consider the other’s size
Stand off on the garden fence
Comes to naught, through common sense

| Most birds I catch
By stealth, and by lurking
Lately, they run
Though this cat isn’t shirking
Yet for some reason my collar
And bell isn’t working
Most prey I catch
From way upon high
My needs are fulfilled
Till tinkerbell walks on by
If white cats are deaf, is it wildly legal
To invite them to lunch, with an angry eagle

| Thankyou all for your interesting entries. I think the two I liked best were Karen's "Famous Seven" and Rose's "Stand off" Although I think they all made us smile, so have a go at August. Steve.
