Hi folks, sorry for the slight delay, I have been away for a couple of days on a training course. Now I'm sitting here wondering what the heck to post as a subject...

Lets make it easy this month, write something about your favorite animal, perhaps a pet, or maybe one you admire for its beauty or grace. It can be anything with up to eight legs Wink

Thanks
Steve

The power of her beauty
The beauty of her power
A shower of rainbow stripes
Stripes of rainbows in a shower

Moodily majestic
Majestic in her mood
Her elegance is food for thought
Her elegant thoughts upon her food

The extinction of a symbol
A symbol of extinction
This distinctive tigress
A tigress of distinction

MAJESTIC

You look so majestic
Standing there so strong
So big and so masculine
You're like a brand new song

Your mane and eyes match up so well
You make me oh so proud
When you don't like fussing
You make it known quite loud

You give me such happy pleasure
I ride you with such pride
I can't wait until I'm home
To go for a long long ride

When I have to leave you
It's breaks my heart in two
I wish for the time to go fast
Just so I can be with you

You are my favorite animal
No one can take your place
I smile and am happy
Each time I see your face

Thanks for that Steve.

And what super entries to start us off, with beautiful pics too!!

Now, I wondered what anyone would think of this idea... that the winner and person who sets the challenge, then judges the monthly poetry challenge and picks the winner?
It would seem to make sense?

Thats fine Gilly, thats what they do on other sites, so I'm ok with that if everyone else is too.

And Margaret... well what a doozy to start us off.
He's a lovely horse, and I am impressed if you still ride him, he looks a bit odf a handful, and so sure of himself Very Happy
Thankyou for having a go, and a very fitting poem too. Crikey what a lovely black mane he has, just the thing to blow in the wind as you gallop.

Two very strong writes, one of a beautiful wild animal, and one of a beautiful not so wild animal. Your tiger poem, Steve, is a reminder of the need to protect species
and yours, Margaret, shows the love you have for your horse, and he does indeed look majestic, your words do him justice!

It doesn’t often happen, but
When he walks just as he should
Head high, in step, tail just so
You’d say ‘pedigree’, so you would
But he hasn’t realised
That he’s a grown up dog
I’m afraid his little brain
Is a pea in a soup of fog
He is soppy and endearing
On your lap, he’d love to jump
If only he was smaller
Not this great big hairy lump

Rose,
He is adorable though, a golden retriever. Is he yours? If so, what's his name?
Your friend,
David Fox

PostSubject: My Special Friend   Mon Nov 09, 2009 7:30 pm

My special Friend

Wherever I go, he is always there
By the fireside, in my favourite chair.
He’ll eat all he is given, never complains
Plate is always empty, never leaves remains
Never ever thanks me, for what I do for him
Never say he cares for me, he’ll just sit and grin.
I do share my laughter, even my tears
For we have been together for many years.

He loves to roam, is always late home
He is so special, I’d be sad if I were alone.
I give him a hug, before I drive away
And will think about him throughout the day
He also likes a cuddle, just like a teddy bear
Yet he is getting on in years, so I really do care.
For he is loyal and kind, and such a special friend
And so I want him to stay with me, until the end.

We have a special friendship. Which will last and grow?
For I know family and friends all do love him so.
He will sleep anywhere, under table or the chairs
In cardboard box, a cupboard, he does not care
Yet he is really lazy as he sits in the sun
Watching me until my work is done,
He was once a small kitten now a big fat cat
But loves my house so much, especially the mat.

Doreen E Hampshire

How sad, how sad the prejudice
That beasts with more legs don't rate this.
Excluded from the race indeed
Shall be my poor, pet centipede...

Oh, Rowan, that is so unfair
If you can't extol your poor pet here
I hope Steve rethinks his prejudice
When he sits and thinks of this

Dear Rowan I regret what I did
I shall relent, give in, concede
Please accept a couple of squid
And apologies to your centipede

Being leggist is not fair
No matter what species, colour or creed
He can not help all those toes to spare
So apologies to your centipede

Pray tell of his affection
Of his antics, and every need
I will withdraw my rejection
Sorry little centipede

Rose.

A beautiful dog, as David said
Does his tongue fit in his head
Imagine if I were a cat
Fancy getting licked by that

Very Happy

Nice poem Doreen, as you can see my kitten likes the mat too.
She is not big enough to tackle the mouse yet Very Happy

Steve, thanks for your little ditty
And the photo of your kitty
I am glad that you took heed
Relented re Rowan's centipede

A kiss from Ry is more a slobber
He'd certainly mess up your clobber
I hope you don't think me rude
But - better to meet him in the nude

Dear Rose I think it only fair
I retain my underwear
I can stand a little dribble
Yet fear what he might nibble

Teeth and claws can be rough
Especially in the buff
So I shall keep my clobber
And just endure the slobber

Very Happy

A good slobber, and he'll settle down
Then I'll lend you a dressing gown
Put your clobber in the washing machine
And give them back when they are clean

Steve, love the picture of your cat,
while the mouse he leaves alone
does he just sit there and watch
As over the web you roam?

Itoo would have to wear
My clobber, when he's around
~For if he got excited
the naked body he would pound.

Beware when the cat is around.(LOL)

Amber doesn't surf the web
She likes to play cards instead
Sometimes it is quite chancy
If ebay items take her fancy

She buys things that I don't need
Stuff we have not agreed
So I make sure I am logged out
Safer when she is about

Very Happy

Amber plays cards on his p.c.
She is miles better than he
She doesn't cheat
She's very neat
But her tongue she should use to clean, Razz
That dirty p.c. screen. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Sorry, couldn't resist that Steve. Cool

PostSubject: Re: November Challenge   Mon Nov 16, 2009 8:01 pm

This is my proper entry, written some time ago.

Floyd.

At the door I feel the stir
Of a furry face aquiver with purr
I turn around to look,
Take my mind from my book
His eyes are pleading
His paws are kneading
"Let me in", he is saying
"You know me, I'm not playing"!
"That's what I'm standing here for"!
So I rise from my chair
To let in with the air
The cat from next door.
Val.
