Broken hearted Clown
I’m a broken hearted clown And I ran away to sea No one really liked my act They always laughed at me I tried to tell them funny jokes But that never ever worked Then one day I just flipped my lid And actually went berserk
I was told a change of scenery Would do me the world of good So I took them at their word And went to sea. I misunderstood While I was on the sailing ship Once more I played the clown But the people they just shouted With their faces in a frown
I then took my loose page writing book To write down stories and some jokes But my muse had finally left me Well there’s nowt so queer as folk On the second week at sea Our ship hit a big rock I was thrown overboard And landed up in shock
I awoke on a small island Surrounded just by the sea So I wrote and wrote my memoirs Well! I had my paper with me But on one very windy day When I was on my knees All the writing I had written Was blown away on the breeze
I’m a broken hearted clown And I am lost at sea So if some-one finds my work I hope they’ll think of me

This poem was for a picture challenge on Skies (didn't win it) but thought I would give it another airing. Thanks for reading
I remember this one, Doreen & the picture that was the challenge. I think it is very well written & it matched the picture exactly. I can't remember who won the challenge though.
He sounds quite unlucky Doreen. There is a difference between people laughing with you or at you. It seems a few comedians led a similar sad life off stage, Tony Hancock, Kenneth Williams, to name a couple.
