PostSubject: MONEY TREE   Fri Jul 30, 2010 6:26 pm

many years my mum would say to me
i thought she had a money tree
when taking a group on a trip to ingleton lake
i now know that her words were true not fake

i walked along the trail as the river twiss was flowing
on the banks of the water a money tree was growing
not far on another i saw lying beside the rivers edge
is this a miracle of nature from the tree lined hedge

further on i came upon a nest of three gnomes
was this where they lived and made all their homes
the roofs were not covered in tiles or slate but coin
is it the little people from dear Ireland who came from the doyen

what a lovely place it is that has some water falls
plenty of space for walking and some nice stone walls
but to see those money trees made my heart jump a beat
with a laugh to my self I'm glad i took to my feet

What a lovely wander through a magical and beautiful place, Jimmy
it ties in very well with David's poem, too

I loved the whimsy of this poem.

Jimmy, I could hear my mother saying, "Money doesn't grow on trees". Maybe she was wrong.

Well a pocketful of leaf
That would sure suit me
Perhaps a little beyond belief
And bad, for the economy

Larch, horse chestnut, maybe oak
Maple, Beech, fine by this bloke
But money on tree’s, seems a joke
Rain forest purchases, it may invoke

Way beyond my understanding
But forests left intact, and standing
The city traders, so demanding
Green countryside, totally outstanding.

Nice one Jimmy

Steve apparently quite green Riggs
