PostSubject: In Search of Peace   Tue Jul 27, 2010 9:42 pm

l

Many many years ago
When I was but a lad
The whole world was in turmoil
And life at times was bad

Although life was not easy
We still had lots of fun
During the times of silence
From the bomb and gun

These days are in the past now
But the memories we retain
Of how the friendships then created
To this very day remain

We were told that from these battles
Love and peace we all would gain
No more would nations go to war
Or cause their peoples pain

But seventy years have come and gone
Without sign of conflicts cease
Have all our sufferings been in vain
When will we see world peace?

Where are all the bright tomorrows
That we were promised long ago
That our brave troops fought and died for
What have we got to show?

We have not made any progress
In fact today’s world is worse
Instead of going forward
We are travelling in reverse

Let us hope that our successors
Can produce the perfect plan
To find world peace and happiness
And respect for our fellow man

World peace would be amazing, I agree, Ian. Maybe one day....
I liked the sentiments in this poem.

Ian,
It would be nice to have world peace, although I'm not sure we'll see it. Maybe if Jesus comes to save us and take us to Heaven, but I don't think before.
Your friend,
David Fox

I do wish we all could enjoy world peace Ian. Not in our lifetime thought I'm sad to say.

But I liked your poem Thank you
