Singing hosanna, laying leaves of palm
While Jesus is counting, every last breath
The son of man goes to his destiny
In the agony of crucifixion
Giving his life, for the whole world to see
“I am the life and the resurrection”

And what of man, what lesson has he learnt
These two thousand years, give or take a day
The devil waits, failing souls to be burnt
“Do as I do”, not just sit there and pray

Your world full of hate, and you still ask why
I showed you love, and asked each man to try.

A good point made in the final couplet of your sonnet, Steve

Loved your poem, and it is dreadful that after all that sacrifice we are still making a mess of things.
