PostSubject: Storm   Wed May 05, 2010 8:15 pm

Storm

Thunder grumbles and rolls around
Last night's rain runs over bone dry ground
A sudden crash
Lightning flash
Over our heads, makes hair stand on end
New water torrents add to the awe full blend

Lonely bridge stands over brimming pool
No lifeguard today to save any fool
Who would brave these ferocious elements,
This demonstration of wrath which the sky presents

Then, though rain sheets down, black cloud moves away
Taking with it glorious light streaked display

I love your poem, crushed rose! Very Happy

You've really captured the excitement and fear of a storm! Very Happy

A really neat photo, too!

I was trying to figure out where it was~It looks like a tropical place with a bridge over a swimming pool in torrential rain. Maybe Egypt?

An excellent write and an evocative poem! Very Happy

Best wishes,
xxoo carol

Here's one I've posted before which touches on the subject.

The Light

Lost souls howl a lament
Into the choking dark.
Lonely headland, gale-lashed,
Endures the stormy, night assault,
Bears man's beacon into the void.

'Stand fast' is the message,
As much as to warn away.
'This is ours; here we stay'.
A lordship proclamation
Beamed out to all comers.

A solitude of abandonment
Throws forth its soulless spear,
No keeper needed now to tend,
To clean, oil or mend
The brilliance.

No life nor limb set to risk
But now an automatic task,
The vigil, unrelenting.
A lonely, lifeless light shines away,
Away, into rain and snow.

The salt-whipped sentry glares
A territorial insult at the black;
Unyielding, the stance;
Mocking, the stare.
An insolent calm amid fury.

Only two entries this month, but two very good ones. It has been hard to choose between you, but I have chosen Rose's true-life account. Congratulations Rose. Your turn to set the subject for June.
