like there was no tomorrow
they may not have one.

Automobiles ought
not to tarry terribly
on tortured turnpikes.

Vehicles go around
the round-a-bout so fast
they miss the exit

THE VARMINT
The varmint growled up
its tree at the moon, bright light
inescapable.


THE VARMINT [II]
The varmint gave up
all of its ghosts, then screamed out,
and then sadly supped.

Children's bright laughter
might educate my cackling,
were pureness likely.

children's laughter rings
as puppets dance across the stage
when their strings are pulled

THAT SIDEWALK
That sidewalk stays put
fairly unshakingly till
extrusions intrude.



THAT SIDEWALK [II]
That sidewalk bothered
all of us by seeming far
from slightly moving.

An all alone swan
tore into some fresh rich meal
fairly filling the bill.

solo one swan floats
across the blue lake's expanse
having lost her mate

THE SOLO
The solo flights I made
across various oceans
were for you, you s(l)ob.


THE SOLO [II]
The solo performance
part of absolute romance
could be in squirming.

Charmed by my serpent,
I play it those same anthems
the Queen played for me.

charming snake charmer,
jewel eyes that never blink,
mesemerising all

Twilight brings moments
when wombats and kangaroos
empocket fine light.

sun setting on hills
painting them with a gold sheen
evening farewell

THOSE DIPS
Those dips are valleys
where some ants crawl and will cry
"Uncle!" 'gainst mountains.


THOSE DIPS [II]
Those dips made by folk
whose dancing still scintillates
my staring features.

Polar bears that fish
for compliments from me are
not quite preferable.

polar bears drowning
because the ice is melting
humans make more mess.

polar bears like cold
unlike us Brits
yet they have fur coats

PREDICTIONS
Predictions keep me
in touch with banalities
and with mighty banes.


PREDICTIONS [II]
Predictions wear down
our wishing to avoid strong
lines that seem ruthless.

Polar bears may like
the prospect of frozen fish
thawing twixt pawings.

de-icing freezers
is one of life's joyful jobs
for a polar bear

I stay delighted
with meals I've thrown together
out of my fine fridge.

It isn't the same --
Storebought brands just don't compare
To Mom's apple pie
